TrumP

TrumP

98 X 48 cm   .   wood, foam core, acrylic, paper, gold leaf, pen, pencil, clay, beads, glitter   .   (2018)

In the trying-something-new category, I decided to create a piece specifically for a submission call. Not accepted, but I’m really happy with the results anyway. Now if someone would just get it out of my house….

“TrumP” represents the debasement, degredation, and havoc this administration has wreaked upon the office of the President. In a relief replica of the Oval Office (complete with details such as the current curtain and carpet choices), a ‘throne’ replaces the couches, chairs, and desk. The throne plays on both the regal-like entitlement and scatalogical associations. Toilet paper, stamped with the presidential seal, lies scattered around the room and hanging from the ceiling, reminiscent of “toilet papering” (TP, or TrumP), a grade school prank that seems in line with the President’s demonstrated maturity level.
