Recent advances in neurobiology astound me. Empathy has been tied to political affiliations, the number of mirror neurons in your brain, chosen occupations, imagination. As a writer, empathy helps me craft characters. Nevertheless, empathy with my closest friends and family, people I love unconditionally, can sometimes seem overwhelming.
